In winter, we can enjoy wakasagi (Japanese Smelt) fishing on frozen lakes in Tohoku. Wakasagi smelt fishing is popular because of its unique fishing methods.
Dome boat fishing is a type of wakasagi smelt fishing, it is to fish in a houseboat on the lake. Holes or slits are opened on the floor of the boat, through which tackles can be put into the water. The boat prevents the rain and wind, and a stove is also provided. So you can enjoy fishing warmly and comfortably even in cold weather.
